About Nage Gompa Gokarna Temple day hike
The proposed day hike combines visit to Nage Gompa and Gokarna Temple. Nage Gompa is a Buddhist nunnery beautifully located on a mid-hill point of Shivapuri Hill to the north of Kathmandu. It is a 2 hour highly picturesque uphill walk from the base of the Shivapuri Hill behind the Budhanilkantha Temple. After enjoying our packed lunch at Nage Gompa, we continue our beautiful walk through the wonderful wilderness. The last part of the tour involves a memorable visit to Gokarna Temple (Shiva Temple) nicely located on the bank of the holy Bagma
ti River where those who have lost their fathers annually attend the pilgrimage in June/July every year. It is a big festival attended by the thousands of children whose fathers have passed away. Our guide will give you a running commentary on the temple and the festival. Then, we are picked up by a car/van/bus and driven back to hotel.
