The Chitwan National Park is nicely located in Chitwan District of Nepal about 150 km south-west from Kathmandu. It is about 4 to 5 hours drive through the scenic winding mountainous road of Nepal. It is the first national park of Nepal having the status of World Heritage Site at a height of 100 m from the sea level.

The Chitwan National Park was much larger than the present size of the park until 1956 and naturally protected with a strong shield of malaria. No one dared to enter the jungle until 1956. However, sadly in 1956, when the malaria was eradicated with the spray of DDT, people from the hilly area (less productive area) started migrating to Chitwan and encroaching the jungle vehemently for cultivation as the Chitwan Valley is one of the most fertile parts in Nepal. It was only in 1973, the jungle got the status of the National Park with the present size and got the Govt. protection. However, despite of the Govt.’s protection, animal poaching has not yet been fully controlled.

Itinerary

    Day 01: On the first day morning, you will be driven to Chitwan National Park through the winding mountainous road along the Trishuli and Narayani River belts.

    En route, it is lovely to see the people enjoying river rafting along the Trishuli and Narayani Rivers. The moment you enter the Chitwan Valley, you can feel the tropical warmth. Check in to the jungle lodge. After refreshment, join the evening jungle activity like nature walk or canoeing as per program set by the lodge.

    Day 02: Full day will keep you busy right from the early morning.

    The second day will keep you busy right from the early morning. The earlier is the better for the animal sighting and photography. After the early morning tea, our naturalists will take you through the jungle to show various tropically rich flora and fauna. It is like a morning walk through the dense jungle. It lasts for an hour or two.

    By the time we are back to lodge, breakfast will be ready. After breakfast, we will be taken for elephant safari for game viewing. This is the best activity among all for many visitors. You will be able to see different lovely animals including rhinos and tigers from a close distance of about 15 to 20 ft. Isn’t it great? Nature Walk, bird watching, and elephant briefing with bathing at a time are also organized by the jungle guide as per schedule.

    Day 03: After early morning jungle activity such as botanical tour

    On the third day, after early morning jungle activity such as botanical tour, we drive back to Kathmandu through the scenic landscape of Nepal with the Himalayan views off and on en route. It takes about 4-5 hours. End of the tour.
